Rel painting a mural for the Bondi Beach Sea Wall in 2018

Rel Pham is an illustrator/painter originally from Sydney, Australia but now residing in Melbourne. Known for a strong use of electric, vibrant colours and a penchant for surrealism. His work combines and contrasts old and new mythology. Whether through surreal portraits or paintings of monoliths, computers and objects that look like alien still lifes. Each piece explores culture and tradition, juxtaposing old world fables and rituals with new stories and ideas.

His backlog of work features an array of solo and group exhibitions, public art projects. Recently Rel Pham was the winner of Muralogy 2017 - in which he created a large scale mural in tandem with Concord Hospital. Previous other projects and prizes include; Australian Stencil Art Prize Finalist 2011, Art Not Apart Festival and an artist residency with BrandX/City of Sydney council.

“Vivid colours clash with muddy tones and brooding characters stand opposed to light-hearted cartoon icons as Rel Pham narrates a tale of dark fantasy.”

'Known on the street as TERHOR and to the rest of us as, Rel Pham, the Sydney-raised now Melbourne-based artist is a quiet maestro of his craft. A trip through his website will reveal a barrage of loud and aggressive works that demand attention. A closer look will reveal a refined eye for colour, a true knowledge of light and years of video-game influences. Coming off the back of being the 2017 Muralogy winner, Rel has plans for solo in Melbourne and with a long list of past exhibitions throughout Australia, it's sure to not disappoint. '
